G20 Summit Legal Support Project

The MDC's Summit Legal Support Project (SLSP) is still working hard to inform, defend and support people arrested, detained or otherwise harassed during the mobilizations against the G20 meeting in late June. The SLSP lead Know Your Rights training sessions for activists, trained and fielded approximately 100 legal observers to document police action during the summit and organized a group of volunteer criminal defence lawyers to provide pro bono legal representation for G20 arrestees at bail hearings. The SLSP arrest line is no longer operational, but you can send the MDC an e-mail or leave us a voice mail using the 'contact us' link above. We are beginning to shift our focus to defence organizing and other legal and political follow-up, so please get in touch if you were arrested or detained, whether you have criminal charges or not.
